Tastings on May 4 and 5, 2018

Celebrate the themes of Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby with tastings this week at Liquid Assets. A variety of wine will be at the tasting on Friday May 4, 2018 from 5PM to 7PM. Both bourbons and tequilas will be at the tasting on Saturday May 5, 2018 from 1PM to 4PM.

Wines - Silk and Spice, Foris

On Friday May 4, 2018, Liquid Assets located at 995 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, Rhode Island will be tasting the following wines from 5pm until 7pm.

Silk & Spice
Silk & Spice is a testament to this expedition; and with its quite literal ‘silky and spicy’ flavor profile, it is a celebration of Portugal’s capacity for silky, exotic wines with deep, rich layers and intense berry-fruit flavors. The route from Europe to the Indian Ocean – known as the “Silk & Spice Route” – was pioneered by Vasco da Gama, who rounded the Cape of Good Hope in 1498. Flavors like nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and pepper changed world cuisine, while silk from China became prized for its luxurious touch. 40% Touriga Nacional, 20% Baga, 20% Syrah and 20% Alicante Bouchet.

Moscato D’Asti
Moscato d’Asti is a Denominazione di origine controllata e garantita sparkling white wine produced mainly in the province of Asti, north-west Italy, and in smaller nearby regions in the provinces of Alessandria and Cuneo. The wine is sweet and low in alcohol, and often enjoyed with dessert. Thus it is considered a dessert wine.

Foris Pinot Blanc
Subtle aromas of ripe fig, lemon grass, wet river stones and a hint of sandalwood mingle with scents of a fresh marine breeze and sourdough bread crust. Flavors of quince preserves and pineapple-rhubarb tart are medium weight on entry, tilting towards a lean, crisp finish. Fabulous with fresh shellfish or simply with a baguette and your favorite cheese.

Foris Dry Gewurztraminer
Delicate aromas of rose petal, citrus blossom and cardamom follow with avors of white peach, Asian pear and juicy pineapple that are broad, full-bodied and palate coating…building to an intense finish that is both bold and refreshing.


Tasting - Bourbons and Tequilas

On Saturday May 5, 2018 Liquid Assets located at 995 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, Rhode Island will be tasting the following bourbons and tequilas from 1pm until 4pm.

Larceny was hand selected by the Master Distillers to have a taste profile of a six-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Made with wheat as the secondary grain, instead of the traditional rye, Larceny is a smoother tasting Bourbon.

Bernheim Original
Wheat gives the Whiskey a softer taste than Bourbon. This Wheat Whiskey has sweet aromas of vanilla and honey, and flavors of toffee, berries and spice with fresh mint. Because it is made with wheat, its mix ability with a variety of juices and liqueurs makes it perfect for creating an endless array of crisp and refreshing cocktails.

Elijah Craig
The signature Bourbon bearing the name of Rev. Elijah Craig, a Bourbon pioneer who is credited with being the first distiller to age his whiskey in charred oak barrels. Long before the term Small Batch even existed, our Master Distillers were hand-selecting just the right number of barrels to make Elijah Craig. This expertise and attention to detail give Elijah Craig Small Batch the right balance of rich flavor and full body. Each small batch carries a signature warm spice and subtle smoke flavor. A combination that belongs in any Bourbon fan’s regular rotation.

Lunazul Tequila Blanca
Exceptionally smooth and balanced with bright color and silver highlights.
Aroma: Refreshing fruity nose exhibiting tropical and apple notes with a healthy dose of salt and citrus, similar to that of fresh agave.
Taste: The palate is semi-viscous and peppery with ripe fruit tones giving way to crisp citrus notes and a hint of vanilla.
Finish: Wonderfully balanced finish with long lasting citrusy, peppery, and herbaceous notes.

Lunazul Tequila Reposado
Bright, golden color with subtle oak and vanilla notes.
Aroma: The nose is delicate and fruity offering aromatics reminiscent of baked or grilled pineapple, but is best identified as pure, baked agave.
Taste: Lush caramel with layers of semi-sweet vanilla, fruit and spice evolving to subtle oak and vanilla notes.
Finish: Long and creamy finish with lingering smoky and spicy notes.
