IMG_0257Wachusett Brewing Company’s sports inspired beer is a real treat. Enjoy the fall season and all the sports that come with it with this nice variety of beers. City of Champions includes 4 different beers Green Monsta IPA, Brewin’ American Pale Ale, Larry Triple Double and Bella Czech Pils. These 4 beers make the perfect addition to every sports fan this fall.  The Green Monsta IPA has an orange color when poured, with a nice long white head. It has a nice aroma with notes of citrus, pine and lemon. The taste is hoppy and citrusy with 6.1% ABV, a great IPA for any sports fan. The Brewin’ American Pale Ale is produced using American hops and malts. It is a smooth, very drinkable and clean beer. It has a great mouthfeel and is milder than an IPA, perfect for any occasion with 4.8% ABV. The Larry Triple Double has a Belgian twist. It has the same hop character beer drinkers know and love but is brewed with a traditional Belgian yeast which creates a unique Imperial IPA with 8.5% ABV. Lastly The Bella Czech Pils, another great addition. It’s a traditional Czech Pils brewed with Czech and German hops with 5.3% ABV. This combination of European malts and hops creates a great, noble hop flavor with a spiciness from the Czech Saaz hops.

IMG_0262This Smoked Porter from Grey Sail Brewing is a fantastic and robust porter made here in Rhode Island. This winter season brew if made using peat-smoked malt and American hops. This combination creates a piney-resin flavor. The black malt used creates a khaki-colored head and dark chocolate color. All these great ingredients make for a great dark beer with a nice smooth finish with 6% ABV.  Don’t miss out on this beer otherwise you’ll have to wait until next winter season.

Smokehead Islay Single Malt Scotch Whiskey

IMG_0261Smokehead is truly a quality single malt with 43% ABV. This scotch has a beautiful golden color and on the nose it is smokey and peaty. On the palate it is complex, fresh and fruity. There are notes of fresh ginger, lemon, plum and some salty and spicy notes. Along with some notes of toffee, iodine, sherry, sea salt, cocoa, peat and some honey sweetness that leads to a peppery spice. It spreads throughout the mouth with a light sweetness and more peat. It finishes with some spice and mandarin that dries up and then some more peat hits you. This is a complex and amazing single malt. As the creator’s have described it is “a roller coaster of peat and spice with some delicate sweetness” definitely worth your time if you’re a fan of single malts.
