This week’s picks is all about beer. We chose two great beers that surely won’t disappoint beer drinkers InfRIngement from Newport Storm Brewery and Dragon’s Milk Bourbon Barrel Stout from New Holland Brewing.
According to the Newport Storm Brewery “InfRIngement is the culmination of nearly 4 years of test brewing and development.” Over this long period of time the brewers have spent their time tweaking and perfecting this beer. All the hard work resulted in a Russian Imperial Stout that is aged in Thomas Tew Rum barrels and comes in a 22oz bottle. The beer has a deep black color and beige head when poured that leaves a thick lace on the glass. The aroma is has notes of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and a touch of hops. On the palate it is very pleasant with flavors of rum, coffee and chocolate. The rum flavor becomes more prevalent as you drink more. Overall though it’s a nice balance. It is crisp and smooth with a medium to heavy body that finishes dry. This is a great Russian Imperial Stout with 10% ABV that has been perfected and needs to be enjoyed by beer drinkers.
Dragon’s Milk Bourbon Barrel Stout
This stout comes with an impressive 11% ABV. It has a clear, dark brown color and has a beige head when poured into a glass. On the nose it has notes of everything delicious, brown sugar, fudge, caramel, vanilla, milk chocolate, coffee and oak. On the palate it similar with notes of milk chocolate, sweet caramel malt, dark syrup, brown sugar, bourbon, black licorice, oak and a strong presence of vanilla. It’s very sweet, smooth and a delight to drink with its medium body and light carbonation. It finishes dry with a light bitterness. This stout is best enjoyed as a dessert after a meal or all by itself. If you want a tasty and sweet beer, look no further.
